The Capital Wastelands looked as lifeless as ever. This state was reinforced by the lone figure trekking across the Waste.
Joe "Vir-Machinae" Everyman, wearing as leather jacket over his zipped up flak vest, military cargo pants and trademark fedora, walked on. The wind caressing his unshaven face, lifting his shoulder length dark brown mane. On one shoulder he carried an assault rifle w/ bayonet attachment. The other, a Hammerspace bag carrying the battle spoils of the now late Lone Wanderer.
The Kid from Vault 101.
Wasn't much younger than Joe, but he sacrificed himself for the good of the Waste by going into that radiation filled chamber and activating the water purification system, which now provides the people of the Wastes w/ clean water. He did this when Joe, Fawkes, Charon or even Sentinel Sarah Lyons could have done the job. But he kid insisted that he finish his fathers work.
After the radiation cleared, the four of them entered the chamber of Project Purity in what was once known as the Jefferson Memorial and picked up the dead body of their comrade.
The trek back the Citadel, the former Pentagon, was more like a funeral march. Wastelanders, seeing the young man who had helped them quite a bit, joined in the procession along the Brotherhood of Steel. No one minded.
In the Citadel, they buried him. The placed him in the ground clad in the jumpsuit he wore emerging from the Vault. It was truly fitting for the hero.
Charon went back to the Underworld, with the rest of his Ghoul brethren. Fawkes and Joe delivered Dogmeat to the people of Vault 101, hoping they would take the master less dog. Joe left Fawkes at the Megaton house, where Joe took as much of the kid's weapons and armor as he could carry and headed to the location of his ship.
Though he couldn't shake off the felling he was being followed
"My friend, may I ask of where we are going to? " asked Fawkes.
"Just my space-WHAT THE HELL!!!!" Joe exclaimed.
Why in God's name was Fawkes following him?
"Fawkes, why are you following me?" Joe asked.
"You, mean I was not supposed to follow you?" the intelligent Super Mutant replied.
"Yeah." said Joe.
"But my friend, I have no other place to go. Can I not go with you?" Asked Fawkes.
Joe thought about this, he was after all trying to make a team for his merc business. Fawkes had proven himself to be an irreplaceable ally in battle. There was just one thing he needed to make sure of.
"Do you have the Winterized T-51lb Power Armor?" inquired Joe.
"Yes I do, my friend." answered Fawkes as he showed Joe the armor.
" Follow me then." said Joe
And so the two walked quite a distance before reaching a rock formation. Bodies of dead Radscorpions, Yao Guai, Mureluks and even some Deathclaws littered the place.
"Fawkes, I am not from this world. Hell, I'm not even so sure I'm from this dimension. But I'm letting you know this because I am taking you into this greater Universe, a place where you will fit in because people have seen worse than you." Joe said.
With a press of a button, flying wing Spaceship Wolfpaw's cloaking device turned off and the black and grey hull shone in the sun. Another press and the loading bay opened and the two strode into the ship. It wasn't to long before the engines fired and the ship flew off into the distance.
"So where are we headed to, my friend?" asked Fawkes.
"I never really know myself. I just go with the flow given to me." Joe answered.
Then a light began flashing and an alarm went off beeping.
"What was that?" asked Fawkes.
"Looks to be a spatial anomaly. I'll see if I can't get a lock on to what it is." replied Joe as he began pressing buttons on the control panel. The ship shook as some form of turbulence hit it.
" It seems to be a transdimensional movement of some sort. I've got a lock as to what this is...OH I CANNOT FRIGGIN' BELIVE THIS. IT'S A WHITE MEAT BUN!!!!!!!!!" yelled Joe.
Soon after. the two were engulfed in mystic symbols and circles as the fabric of dimensions melted away.
Grass. That was what Joe first felt as he opened his eyes again. Then pain, as Fawkes landed right on top of him.
"My friend, are you hurt?" Fakes asked.
"Just some broken ribs. Nothing some vodka can't fix." Joe replied as he spat out the blood that pooled in his mouth. "and I don't know where we are."
He looked around and saw a shop. A quaint little thing decorated with crescents and other mystic things. But it gave off an aura that gave Joe shivers. He had only felt this type of thing a few times before. And usually that meant Cthonian beasts. But this time was different. Both Fawkes and his feet were pulling them to the door of the shop.
